CULTURAL INDUSTRY is an independent, international production company based in London, that produces and presents new work across a complete spectrum of the performing arts.

Established in 1987 by Michael Morris, Cultural Industry has been responsible for on-going presentation of work in the UK by Robert Lepage/ Ex Machina, Pina Bausch, La La La Human Steps and the production of special projects by Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson, Heiner Goebbels and Robert Wilson, amongst many others, in a range of leading venues throughout the UK. Cultural Industry's current international touring production is the highly acclaimed Shockheaded Peter, which has now been seen across four continents and is currently being developed as a feature film.

Michael Morris is also, with James Lingwood, Co-Director of Artangel ( which commissions and produces new work by exceptional artists in unusual locations and on film. Past commissions include Michael Landy’s Break Down at the C&A building on Oxford Street; Jeremy Deller's The Battle of Orgreave in South Yorkshire; Die Familie Schneider in identical neighbouring houses in Whitechapel and Kutlug Ataman’s KUBA in New Oxford Street.
